Black pepper, also known as the ‘king of spices’ is a commonly used spice. Although it gives a mild spicy flavor, it is derived from a type of berries called peppercorns.
Black pepper and white pepper are berries from the same plant but its difference is in how it is processed. Black peppercorns are harvested just before they ripen and then they are dried. For white peppercorns, the outer layer is removed before or after it is sundried.
